
M.R. Sukhumbhand Paribatra, Governor of Bangkok, the BMA executives and representatives visited Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia during 18-20 October 2015 to attend the 3rd Meeting for Governors/Mayors of ASEAN Capitals (MGM ASEAN) “ASEAN Goes Local: Towards City Networking”. There were six representative cities- Bandar Seri Begawan, Jakarta, Vientiane, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, and Hanoi- and ASEAN Secretariat participating in the Meeting which had four main topics. Those topics are Strengthening ASEAN Capitals Capacity Building, Attract and Retain a High Calibre of the Labour Force in the Travel and Tourism Industry for ASEAN Capitals, Developing Sustainable ASEAN Capitals, and Promoting ASEAN Cultures.
After the meeting, the Joint Statement is announced aiming to promote the collaboration among ASEAN Capitals in the fields of human efficiency, tourism, sustainable development, and cultural promotion. As well as the next host city will be scheduled at Vientiane Capital in 2016.
