Asia Junior Sports Exchange Games 2012 in Tokyo
The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration participates in the 6th Asia Junior Sports Exchange Games 2012 in Tokyo during 28 August – 3 September 2012. For the competition, Tokyo Metropolitan Government has invited member cities of the Asian Network of Major Cities 21 (ANMC 21) to send a team of youth athletes to compete in Judo and Badminton. Apart from the 16 ANMC 21 member cities, four provinces in Japan affected by the great earthquake and tsunami in March 2011, namely Iwate, Miyagi, Fukushima, and Ibaraki, are also invited to attend the event. The youth athletes from Bangkok have won the gold medal in overall badminton competition followed by Jakarta winning the silver medal and Taipei the bronze medal. Bangkok also won a bronze medal in Judo men’s individual competition less than 60 kilograms by Mr. Peerawat Ruamsakulchokchai. This has been a great success and fame for Bangkok in international youth athletes’ competition.
