On March 5, 2012, Dr. Vallop Suwandee, Deputy Governor of Bangkok is a representative of BMA to receive Asian Townscape Award 2011 Prize from Ms. Rumi Ichiba, the representative of Asian Pacific City Summit (APCS) Secretariat at Bangkok City Hall. For Asian Townscape Award 2011 is an award giving to a city or a project which is excellent on promotion of people quality of life together with development on environment, security, culture, city landscape, and people’s lifestyle.
The City Planning Department is assigned by the BMA to nominate the Living Bangkok Heritage Project for this award. The Living Bangkok Heritage is a project which has got the objectives on the development and conservation in world heritage areas around Ratanakosin Island. This project is a cooperated project between the BMA, The Crown Property Bureau, and The Treasury Department and its area covers King Rama III Memorial Park, Santi Chaiprakarn Park, Nakarapirom Park, and Royal Field. From its outstanding and appropriate qualification, the Living Bangkok Heritage Project is selected to receive Asian Townscape Award 2011.
