On March 25, 2021, Pol.Gen. Aswin Kwanmuang, Governor of Bangkok, welcomed H.E. Mr. Jyri Järviaho, Ambassador of Finland to the Kingdom of Thailand and the representatives from Embassy of Finland comprising Mr. Heikki Karhu, First Secretary and Deputy Head of Mission; Mr. Kimmo Pekari, Special Advisor (Trade and Economic Affairs); and Team Finland staff at Amornpimarn Room, Bangkok City Hall. In this regard, Mr. Kriangyos Sudlabha, Deputy Governor of Bangkok, Director-General of Environment Department Director-General of Traffic and Transport Department, Deputy Director-General of Strategy and Evaluation Department, Deputy Director-General of Education department, as well as officials from relevant authorities jointly received the delegation at Amon Phiman Room, Bangkok City Hall.
The Governor of Bangkok stated that the Republic of Finland could efficiently manage its quality of education, and was ranked to be one of the world’s best countries with quality education. It also possessed potential in good environmental management, including air quality management and implementation of the Circular Economy Development Plan. It was, therefore, a valuable opportunity for Bangkok to share and learn from Finland. Moreover, the representatives from Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) organizations were interested in exchanging knowledges with Finland in various aspects such as waste management, education quality management, and smart city development. In this connection, the Finnish ambassador said that Finland had a large number of private companies with advanced technology and solutions to tackle the urban challenges. In term of educational development, Finland had adopted digital technology to help improve the quality of education. In the past, there was a pilot cooperative project with Thailand’s Ministry of Education. Consequently, the ambassador was pleased and ready to support and promote urban development for Bangkok, and hoped to have active cooperation with Bangkok in the future.
