The prefecture is bordered by Mie, Gifu Nagano and Shizuoka Prefectures. In the south of Aichi is the Pacific Ocean where the Ise and Mikawa Coastlines are located. The main river is the Yahagi River which flows through the center of Aichi Prefecture.

Aichi Prefecture has a rich natural environment and an abundant workforce and human resources. There is a well-balanced growth of industry, commerce and agriculture in the prefecture. According to Japan External Trade Organization: JTRO, since 1977 Aichi has been the first place of Japan for the value of its total shipments of manufactured products.
Major industries in Aichi consist of transport machinery, general machinery, iron and steel, electrical machinery and plastics.
Aichi Prefecture is one of Japan's leading agricultural prefectures. The prefecture's top agricultural products are such as rice, cabbage, tomatoes, beefsteak plants (shiso or perilla mint or blue Japanese basil), green tea (tencha), giant butterburs (fuki), eggplants, cucumbers, strawberries, mandarin oranges, figs, pears, grapes, persimmons, melons, peaches, chrysanthemums, tropical orchids, roses, pork, chicken, dairy cows, etc.
Aichi is ranked as the first in Japan for tree cultivators and the number of trees planted. The most widely planted trees are the Christmas camellias, evergreen oaks, the Japanese boxes, podocarpus macrophyllus (kusamaki) and junipers.
The prefecture is a major forestry center of Japan for its development of timber ports, lumber-based industrial zones, sawmills, plywood manufacturers and the other forestry businesses in the prefecture.
The climate of Aichi is influenced by the Kuroshio Current. It is generally mild and hot in the summertime, experiencing higher summer temperatures than the lowland cities of Okazaki and Toyohashi.
