City Information       
Fukuoka Prefecture is located on the Kyushu Island and positioned at a latitude of 33° 33' 58.521'' N and a longitude of 130° 42' 57.085" E. The prefecture has a total area of 4,987 square kilometer and an approximate population of 5,478,076 in 2024. It is one of Japan's main metropolitan areas. The prefecture is considered a gateway to the Chinese continent and the Korean peninsula as it is located close to Busan of the Republic of Korea (200 kilometer) and Shanghai of the People's Republic of China (1,000 kilometer).

According to Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), the main industries of Fukuoka consist of transport equipment, electronic parts and devices, iron and steel, chemical products and food and beverage. Moreover, traditional crafts which include Hakata Weaving, Hakata Dolls, Kurume Splashed-Pattern Kimono and Chikugo Washi Paper are the famous products of Fukuoka.

Hakata Port is the base for inshore and deep-sea trawl fishery of Fukuoka. The haul is one of Japan's top ports. The fertile Chikugo Plains in southern Fukuoka is one of Japan's prominent grain belts. There are varieties of agricultural products produced in the prefecture such as rice, garden plants, eggplants, celeries, cauliflowers, broccolis, strawberries, persimmons and kiwis. Some famous souvenirs from Fukuoka are such as Karashi-Mentai (spiced cod roe), Hakata Ramen Noodles, Mizudaki Broth, etc.

Fukuoka Prefecture is one of Japan's major tourist destinations for the natural attractions are beautiful and there are many famous historic and cultural attractions in the prefecture such as Dazaifu, Gokoku Shrine, etc. The prefecture is surrounded on three sides by the ocean and there are beautiful mountains located nearby therefore it is a perfect place for sightseeing, hiking and water sports.
